Remarks Shared During AMPOWER’s Pre-Listing Conference
On 6 January 2026, Hung Tzu-Jen (洪子仁), Vice Superintendent of Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital, shared a healthcare perspective on why resilient power systems matter in real-world operations.
Why Hospitals Care About Power
He began by addressing a question some may have had: Why did a hospital voice appear at an energy-focused event?
Because hospitals never pause. Operating rooms and intensive care units rely on electricity every hour of the day. Hung compared stable power in a hospital to oxygen in the human body—essential, constant, and irreplaceable once interrupted.
Power Continuity in Hospital Operations
Hung stated the issue in healthcare extends beyond backup power alone. The real challenge lies in keeping medical services running without interruption amid the pressures of energy transition.
From a healthcare management perspective, power resilience has become a necessary condition for continuous medical operations.
Power Systems in Use
Within this context, Hung pointed to AMPOWER’s experience in emergency power systems, and the application of semiconductor-grade power stability approaches in healthcare settings. Among these, AMPOWER’s self-developed PLTC technology enables seamless switching between utility power and backup power—a system that is critical across all industries.
He then shared a case currently underway at Shin Kong Hospital, where a gas-engine system is being developed in collaboration with AMPOWER to provide baseload electricity, with recovered heat reused for wastewater treatment and chilled-water operations. This approach allows hospitals to build a more resilient power architecture.
Diversified Energy and Green Healthcare
Hung then spoke about localized, diversified energy microgrids and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) as energy solutions worth close attention, citing their efficiency, sustainability, and stable baseload output.
In his view, introducing such systems can strengthen power resilience while reducing hospitals’ carbon footprint, aligning with broader green healthcare efforts and net-zero transition goals.
Closing Remarks
He closed by quoting Warren Buffett:
“Someone is sitting in the shade today
because someone planted a tree a long time ago.”
Hung used the image to express a long-term view—one where healthcare institutions and energy partners work together to “plant“ foundations for a greener, healthier future.
AMPOWER extends its thanks to Hung Tzu-Jen and Shin Kong Hospital for sharing a healthcare perspective during the pre-listing conference.
