Back-to-Back Blackouts
On May 6, New Taipei’s Zhonghe district suffered a large-scale outage at around 17:00, followed by a second blackout in Taipei’s Zhongshan district later that evening at 21:17. Both were traced to an underground cable failure, affecting nearly 7,500 households in total.
Voltage Dip in the South
On May 9, Kaohsiung faced a brief power dip caused by a faulty cable during a system maintenance at the Gaogang Substation. Key areas, including tech parks, industrial zones, and transport system facilities like Kaohsiung MRT and Taiwan High Speed Rail, were affected. While train services continued, escalators and gates shut down, and businesses and homes lost power.
