A Winter Evening with Purpose, Connecting Care and Action

On a December evening, Songshan Community College felt a little warmer than usual. Lights were switched on, families arrived in small groups, and volunteers took their positions. “Lighting Joy, Sharing Smiles” unfolded as time shared—rooted in care, learning, and being together.

Co-hosted by Rotary International District 3521, Taipei Huapeng Rotary Club, the Taipei Jubilee Family Social Welfare Foundation, and the Pan-American International Cultural & Educational Foundation, the event focused on three things: environmental awareness, health education, and community support.

Sustainability You Can See

At the center of the campus stood three Christmas trees made from nearly 2,000 recycled plastic bottles. The main tree, rising eight meters high, became a focal point. When the lights were officially switched on, the moment was less about spectacle and more about shared intention—showing how reuse and environmental care can be made visible in everyday spaces.

Representatives from government, Rotary organizations, partner enterprises, and social welfare groups joined the lighting ceremony, marking the start of an evening built on a shared commitment to environmental responsibility and care for families with special needs.

Learning Through Participation

Throughout the event, oral health education sessions and interactive learning activities were held in collaboration with the Taipei Dental Association. Led by experienced dental professionals, these sessions demonstrated practical oral care habits in a way that was accessible to both children and adults.

Nearby, charity and community booths created room for conversation and connection. Children and adults alike moved between family-friendly activities, and others paused to talk, observe, and take part at their own pace.

AMPOWER: Present, Together

As the evening unfolded, AMPOWER was there in simple ways. We supported the event as one of the main sponsoring partners, and our chairman, vice president, managers, colleagues, along with their families attended in person. They joined the activities alongside everyone else, sharing the same space and pace of the night.

Responsibility, for AMPOWER, goes beyond financial support. It is about showing up, participating, and sharing time with the communities around us.
